Sacraments

Sacraments are ‘powers that comes forth’ from the Body of Christ, which is ever-living and life-giving. They are actions of the Holy Spirit at work in his Body, the Church. They are ‘the masterworks of God’ in the new and everlasting covenant” (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1116).

ANNOINTING OF THE SICK:  Please pray for the Sick.  One of the seven Sacraments, the Anointing of the Sick is the celebration of Christ's loving presence with those who are elderly, chronically ill, or anticipating hospitalization/surgery.  If you or someone in your household needs the Sacrament, please call our parish office 773-262-0535, or email us

BAPTISM:  Congratulations on the planned baptism of your child!  We are pleased to be the Church in which this first Sacrament will be celebrated.  30 days advance notice is required.  The celebration takes place generally on Sundays after the High Masss.  Click here  for more information and the Baptism Registration Form.

RECONCILIATION/CONFESSION: 30 minutes before every Mass.

“It is called the sacrament of confession, since the disclosure or confession of sins to a priest is an essential element of this sacrament. In a profound sense it is also a ‘confession’ - acknowledgment and praise - of the holiness of God and of his mercy toward sinful man.

CONFIRMATION: Religious Education students are prepared to celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation in Grade 8.  They must be enrolled in Grade 7 and have completed the sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist.  Click here for more details and Confirmation forms.

EUCHARIST/FIRST COMMUNION: Religious Education students are prepared to celebrate the sacraments of Penance (confession) and First Holy Communion in Grade 2.  However, if for any reason a child was unable to celebrate the sacraments at this particular time, sacramental preparation and celebration will be provided to all children who are beyond this grade level.  Click here for more details and First Communion forms.
