MARRIAGE
Congratulations on your engagement!
Your decision to enter into the relationship of married life is a sign of love, hope and strength for our entire community. Due to the volume of weddings requests and the large number of parishioners, weddings are celebrated for registered parishioners only. Either the bride or groom, or their parents must be registered, participating members of Blessed Aloysius Stepinac Mission.
If you are not currently a registered member, but you attend Mass at our parish on most weekends, and if you intend to be an active, contributing member of our parish community, you are welcome to register in our parish office anytime Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00PM. As a registered parishioner, you will be eligible to reserve a wedding date for the celebration of your marriage.
Please call ahead to schedule an appointment with the pastor: 773-262-0535.
PREPARATION
A minimum of six (6) months advanced planning and preparation prior to the wedding date is suggested. Couples must complete an accredited marriage preparation (Pre-Cana) class available through the Archdiocese of Chicago. Check here for the current class schedule.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL
-
A Marriage Application. Fill it out and bring it to your first meeting with our parish prices. DOWNLOAD THE FORM
-
A Baptism Certificate dated within six months of the wedding is to be submitted by each Catholic person. In an interfaith marriage, consult with our parish priest.
-
A recently issued Confirmation Certificate is requested, but not required.
-
A pre-marital questionnaire for both the bride and the groom will be completed by the consulting priest.
-
Two affidavits affirming each person's freedom to marry may be required in some cases. Father Paul will advise.
-
The certificate from the marriage preparation class and a completion of the FOCCUS if applicable.
-
A marriage license from Cook County, Illinois, is required and is to be presented to the priest at the time of the dress rehearsal. Currently, a Cook County license is valid for 60 days from the date of issue and must be obtained at least one day prior to the wedding. For information on obtaining a marriage license, including locations and hours, go to www.cookctyclerk.com or contact the Cook County Clerk's Office at 312-603-7790.
-
Additional documents: In some cases other documents may be required. The consulting priest will advise and assist in this regard. If a priest or deacon from outside the Archdiocese of Chicago is to officiate at your wedding, it is Archdiocesan policy for him to provide a letter of current status from his bishop or religious superior. Your priest will explain what needs to be done.
